As part of Berlin Freedom Week, join us for a conversation about books, memory, and the power of documentation.
"Book as Archive" explores how contemporary Belarusian books can serve as archival testimonies to a present that is at risk of disappearing. Through the works of Lesia Pcholka and Julia Cimafiejeva, alongside the VEHA archive, we will explore how personal fragments and everyday stories preserve histories that might otherwise be lost, connecting individual memories to the broader history of Belarus.
Join us for a conversation about books, memory, and the power of documenting what must not be forgotten.

VEHA Archive will present a curated selection of photographs at Cinemateket. Join us for an exhibition and an engaging talk featuring curator Vera Zalutskaya and Katrine Stevnhøj, a PhD researcher at the University of Copenhagen whose work focuses on the activism scene in Belarus.
Together, they will explore the role of local archival initiatives and grassroots organizations in preserving Belarus’s visual heritage. Before the event, we encourage you to watch "The Kyiv Files" (screening at 12:15), a film documenting the recent opening of KGB archives.
