The collection of portraits photographed against the background of hand-woven carpets tells us about the images of beauty and well-being in the minds of the villagers of Belarus in the 1920s-50s. The works of traveling photographers imitate a studio photo with the help of decorative homemade fabric, but also allow in the frame details that are impossible in a photo studio like house logs or an object of pride - a bicycle. Conceived as a neutral background, the bedspreads and rugs prove to be an important source of knowledge about the local weavers.
Калекцыя партрэтаў, сфатаграфаваных на фоне саматканых дываноў распавядае нам аб вобразах прыгажосці і дабрабыту ва ўяўленнях вясковых жыхароў Беларусі ў 1920-50-я гады. Творы вандроўных фатографаў імітуюць студыйны фотаздымак з дапамогай дэкаратыўнай самаробнай тканіны, але дапускаюць у кадр і дэталі, немагчымыя ў фотаатэлье – ад бярвення хаты да прадмета гонару – ровара. Посцілкі і дываны, задуманыя як нейтральны фон, аказваюцца важнай крыніцай ведаў аб мясцовым ткаллі.
